A recent report by NREL (May 2016), NREL/TP-5500-65688, SAND2016-2237R concluded that the value of CSP compared to a variable-generated PV demonstrated an increase in value of 6 cents/kWh under a 40%RPS. CSP becomes even more attractive when compared against PV + batteries. The Saras receiver coating with its improved selectivity and ability to operate at 750 C will make CSP electricity significantly cheaper and more attractive than the PV options. |
